Permitted Banks: Illinois
This 300+ acre wetland bank was permitted in 2006. The bank consists of four phases with scheduled construction dates between 2006 and 2008. The LLC is working with 5 different landowners and the land will be turned over to the Will County Forest Preserve District upon completion Land and Water Resources, Inc. teamed up with Ecologic Planning to form Wetland Mitigation of Illinois (WMI). WMI partnered with Pasquinelli Homes to create a wetland bank in the floodplain of Cedar Creek a tributary to the DesPlaines River. WMI was responsible for all aspects of the bank from conception, development, financing, permitting, construction, operation, and sales. The project was permitted as 6 phases. Phase A1 and A2 is 96.66 acres. As permitted, the bank will exceed 300 acres once complete. The site, prior to permitting, was a series of farm field with extensive hydric soils and field tiles Cedar Creek floodplain. Cedar Creek is a channelized agricultural drainage ditch. WMI broke field tiles, regraded parts of the area, removed spoil piles adjacent to the ditch, and then seeded the site in 2006 and 2007. Pasquinelli Homes utilized the upland adjacent to the project to construct residential subdivisions. LAWR was able to create and sell 86.48 acres of wetland mitigation credit in Phases A1 and A2 to offset wetland impact. Management activities at the site included aggressive herbiciding of invasive species, mowing and burning. |
